Philosophy

 

At Berala Jack & Jill Pre-school we subscribe to the belief that childhood is valuable and precious and the most important stage of learning. We are committed to the care and overall development of all children in our centre and to have collaborative partnerships with families and our community.

 

Our aims and beliefs are:

 

  • We teach skills for life and learning in a nurturing, culturally appropriate, safe and predictable environment where children and families feel a sense of belonging, trust, security and that they are valued and cared about.
  • To develop good relationships and partnerships with families to achieve the best possible learning outcomes for each child.
  • To respect the diversity, culture, values, beliefs and expectations of each family.
  • To build and foster each child’s self-esteem and self-worth through positive relationships and interactions.
  • To encourage learning through quality play based experiences according to each child’s individual interests, needs and strengths.
  • To develop and encourage good communication where children feel confident to express themselves, listen and consider others ideas, feelings and beliefs.
  • To encourage and help children to become independent, to learn to make decisions and to become responsible.
  • To equip families to support their children’s learning and development and to assist parents/carers in furthering their knowledge and skills through parent education.
  • To develop a sense of community and connectedness taking into consideration the changing diversity of cultures over time.
  • To ensure educators possess knowledge of the emotional and developmental needs of the children and will further extend their skills through professional development.
  • To commit to maintain a high quality of current practice and to continuous improvement.
  • To ensure educators are respected and supported as they are committed to make a difference in the lives of the children and their families.
  • To take an active role in developing an awareness and understanding to support children to become environmentally responsible and learn to respect the environment and contribute to a sustainable future.
